Ben Gearhart
Principal
Ben Gearhart is an experienced, knowledgeable and active real estate broker/investor/developer, and realtor at Modus Real Estate, in Denver, Colorado. With a focus on sellers, move up buyers, he approaches every project by putting the client’s interests first. Leveraging his expertise in the rapidly evolving market, Ben empowers clients with the education and guidance needed to achieve their real estate goals. His background in real estate finance and sharp negotiation skills contribute to his track record of seamless transactions, and referral-based business.
Ben entered the mortgage business in 2008, and later teamed up with fellow Iowa native and childhood friend Charles Moore. With a shared affinity for real estate and real estate finance, they founded Gearhart Moore Holdings LLC, a privately held real estate investment company, in 2011. In 2013, they established Capital Works Mortgage, an intentionally boutique firm that quickly adapts to changing market conditions to offer the lowest cost loans and best mortgage rates available while raising the bar in customer service. In 2014, Ben and Chuck formed GM DevCo to provide clients and investors with a unique, cost effective product and best-in-industry mix of intelligence, design and value.
Ben earned his business degree in Operation Management/Marketing from the University of Colorado Boulder, and is a member of the Downtown Denver Partnership, Business Network International, University of Colorado Alumni, and Colorado Eagle Scouts.
Charles E. Moore
Principal
Real estate professional/investor/developer Charles “Chuck” Moore is passionate about helping clients navigate the complex world of buying, selling, financing, and developing real estate. His client-centered approach is based on what is best for the client not what yields the highest commission. With his proven ability to find solutions and experience closing with a vast range of sellers, Chuck gives clients an expert advantage. This coupled with exemplary guidance and customer service has resulted in business based on nearly 100% referral.
With a father in real estate, Chuck became interested in real estate at an early age. He entered mortgage finance in 2007, and teamed up with fellow Iowa native and childhood friend Ben Gearhart in 2008. Chuck earned his B.A. in Economics and Business, and a Certificate of Entrepreneurship, from the University of Iowa. He is a board member of the SoLa Metro District, and a member of the University of Iowa Alumni.
Jose Fernandez
Managing Broker
Jose started his career in the finance world back in 2002. Learning the fundamentals of finance and management from the ground up, he graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Florida Atlantic University. This led him to a management position at Enterprise Rent-A Car in South Florida. Years later he moved to Southern California and switched industries to start working in Education. He joined the Ashford University Admissions department in 2008 where he led multiple teams and divisions during a successful 6 year career in Admissions. During that time Jose graduated with his MBA from Ashford University.
In 2014 he had the opportunity to join the team at Capital Works Mortgage. Over the past 3 years Jose has been able to help multiple clients achieve their home ownership goals by providing the right mortgage solution for each situation. He is passionate about helping his clients throughout the entire mortgage transaction, and he will make himself available at any time of the day or week, including weekends. Jose is bilingual in Spanish, and he is a member of multiple chambers of commerce throughout Denver.
Mike Berkstresser
Senior Loan Officer
Mike joined Capital Works in 2014 after a successful 11+ year career in the corporate world. With a keen understanding of finance, blended with a passion for customer service, Mike was able to acclimate into the mortgage industry in a seamless fashion. Mike is also a licensed real estate broker and an active real estate developer/investor in the Denver area.
Mike earned his business degree in Business Logistics from Penn State University and is a member of the Penn State Alumni Association.
Erin Moore
Senior Loan Officer
Erin is a Colorado Native who grew up in beautiful Conifer. She has an extensive banking and finance background working as both an Assistant Vice President for FirstBank as well as a Vice President for a local Hedge Fund in Cherry Creek. In her previous corporate roles, she has done everything from home equity, to mortgage purchases and refinances, all the way to multi-million dollar commercial construction loans. With a passion for banking and a desire to have a more sustained work-life balance she joined the Capital Works team in early 2018.
Erin is a graduate from the University of Denver with both an M.B.A and B.S. in International Business and Finance. Philanthropically, she is on the Engage Board for Junior Achievement and has been working on launching her own non-profit animal rescue called Puppy Cuddles.
When not working on mortgage strategies you can find Erin hiking with her rescue dog or riding her horse.
Joseph Moore
Senior Loan Officer
Joseph (Joe) Moore is originally from Okoboji, Iowa. He graduated from the University of Iowa in 2011 with a B.B.A. in Accounting. After several corporate positions, he moved to Denver in June of 2015 to pursue a career in residential lending. Joe quickly gained a reputation for closing large purchases with “tricky” underwriting that earned him the office nickname “Jumbo Joe”. Aside from Joe’s experience with large, difficult loans, Joe also prides himself on helping first time home buyers, simplifying the approval process, and being readily available for an industry and market that are both time sensitive.
When Joe isn’t helping clients, he enjoys coaching wrestling, fly fishing, snowboarding, playing guitar, and spending time with family and friends.
Jack Prickett
Senior Loan Officer
Jack Prickett is a Colorado native who grew up in Lakewood. He attended Metro State University, and has been a licensed loan officer since 2015. Before joining the Capital Works team, Jack was co-owner of Majestic Marketing, where he did sales and marketing for a Los Angeles-based medical research company. His entrepreneurial spirit and his passion for helping people are the driving forces behind Jack’s success as a mortgage broker. In his free time Jack enjoys snowboarding and golf.
Nathan Caldwell
Loan Officer
Nathan Caldwell has been training the next generation of camp leaders for the last decade. Raised in Mexico as the eldest son of missionaries, Nathan has spent most of his life immersed in leadership roles as a teacher, pastor, youth leader and camp director.
After purchasing his first rental property in 2017, Nathan fell in love with a new aspect of educating young people about finances and real estate, and got his realtor license in 2020.
When he’s not processing loans, showing, training, teaching, preaching, or developing educational material, Nathan can be found skiing the mountain slopes of Denver, Colorado with friends.
